The Recruitment Process
Short-Listing
Once the closing date has passed, all applications are submitted to the recruitment manager to short-list. They then complete the short-listing process and pass the information back to Human Resources to set up interviews. This process usually takes 5 -10 working days. If for any reason, the short listing process is delayed, we will let you know.
Interview and Assessment Process
If you are successfully short-listed there will usually be one day of interviews. They may also include a test or presentation depending on the nature of the post. We use both simulated exercises (an administrative or technical test) and psychometric testing.
The interview process will be in front of a panel of interviewers appropriate to the level of post. They will ALL have been trained in DMU recruitment and selection policy and process.
If the panel are unable to make a selection, you may be called in for a second interview.
Decision Making Process
A decision will usually be made by the panel within 2 working days following the interview process being completed.
Should you be successful, your offer will be subject to satisfactory references and eligibility to work in the UK. All academic and senior posts will be subject to vice chancellor approval.
If you are not successful, you will be sent a letter confirming this. You may then seek feedback up to 14 days after the receipt of the letter.
